  • Coming up, the Mercer-Area-District "Camporee" at nearby Rosedale Park

The second campout of the year is coming up quickly . . .  October 10th is the deadline for me to receive your permission slips and payment, as names are due to the District that day.

It’s our local Scout District’s "Punkin Chunkin" on October 17th-19th at nearby Rosedale Park - an activity-packed weekend with lots of details (see attached), including:

    • Pumpkin Pie cooking contest
    • Fishing Derby
    • Pumpkin catapults (each Troop may construct and bring their own),
    • “Ghoul” Gateway (an entrance-way to Troop 43’s camp-site), and a
    • Campfire with skits.

Pack 43 Webelos will be invited to come with a parent and register with Troop 43 (me).

We will leave from Mapleton Nurseries and bring our Patrol equipment including food, equipment and tents.

    Class A uniforms are required for a part of Saturday's activities . . .

Matthew Friedman will be leading this trip with Pablo Lapuerto and Dan Delaney.  Additional Troop 43 adult leaders with Youth Protection, etc. may also attend.   Please let me or Matt know asap.

The fee is $50* per Scout, $25 per Webelo parent and $0 per registered Troop 43 leader.

This fee includes the ($25/person) District camping fee with planned activities, and our typical budget for Troop food for the Scouts.   Adults will plan and bring and cook their own food.
*(if cost is an issue, please contact me confidentially).

The Webelos (with a parent or guardian) will be able to participate in many (not all) of the activities the Boy Scouts are doing and they may stay for either one or two nights.

Webelos and their parent/guardian should register with me, NOT through their Pack.

Please return a completed permission slip (link is,
along with a check made out to “Princeton Troop 43”.

Both are needed to reserve a spot.  I will be at the upcoming Monday meetings or you may give to my wife Adrienne who attends as well.

You can also drop off/mail everything to my house.
Everything is due no later than October 10th at 6pm.

Don't forget to update your health forms.  Mrs. Nishtar sent out an email earlier with the links.  Your health forms must be updated to go on this trip.

Scouts hiked a "20-Miler" along the D&R canal on Saturday. They started in cold and crisp early morning in New Brunswick where the canal water empties into the Raritan River and ended the hike in Rocky Hill/Princeton.

  • Ski trip 2013
Our annual ski trip will be held Friday March 1 through Sunday March 3

We will be skiing all day Saturday at Windham Mountain in upstate New York, and staying in heated cabins at a nearby Boy Scout camp (the same one we stayed at last year). Like last year, we will be offering ski lessons to anyone who wants them, offered through the Windham ski staff. You do NOT need to have prior skiing experience to take this trip, but unless you are "intermediate" in your abilities you must take a lesson.

We will also be testing Scouts on Snow Sports Merit Badge.

Please mark your calendars – this is usually a popular event and we are limited to 34 participants on a first-to-hand-in-permission-slip basis.

(If anyone wants to cabin-camp, but not ski, or we could arrange that, if we have adult volunteers to manage those boys who are not skiing.)

  • Klondike 2013
This year the Klondike is a one day event – we are participating in the Joyce Kilmer District Derby on Saturday, February 2 from 7am until 4pm at Thompson Park in Monroe/Jamesburg. More information at:

    • The registration fee is $10 per scout and $5 per adults (unless the adult wants a patch and then the fee is $10).
    • Please complete the emailed permission slip and turn it in by Thursday, January 17th.
    • Mrs. Graham will be collecting these at this upcoming Monday meeting or you may drop it off in the black basket on her front porch (see email for address).
Please review the cold weather camping clothing portion of our Winter Checklist.

Also, each participant will be responsible for bringing their own bag lunch.

Hope you can join in. This is after finals at PHS so hopefully some of the high school scouts may be able to participate.
